First things first: I received this book through NetGalley.
Noch ein Buch diesen Monat, das eindeutig zu meinen Lieblingsbüchern gehören wird, für diesen Monat, dieses Jahr und wahrscheinlich für noch eine viel längere Zeit. Die Charaktere sind mir richtig sehr ans Herz gewachsen, die Geschichte hat mich so sehr bewegt. Alles an diesem Buch wird mir noch lange im Kopf bleiben.
Inhalt: Lexi ist reich, cool, ein It-Girl – und heroinsüchtig. Nach einer Überdosis landet sie in der Clarity-Klinik. Ihr Entzug ist hart, die Therapie schier unerträglich, vor allem die Treffen mit den „Mitinsassen“: Aufputschmittel-Junkie Saif, Trans-Mädchen Kendall, Guy mit der Zwangsneurose, Bulimikerin Ruby, Ex-Kinderstar Brady. Doch ausgerechnet diese fünf werden zu echten Freunden. Und Brady vielleicht mehr. Lexi öffnet sich vorsichtig, beginnt ihr zerstörerisches Leben zu hinterfragen. Aber ist ein anderer Weg überhaupt möglich?
Gleich von Anfang an mochte ich total den Schreibstil und vor allem auch den Humor in dem Buch. Es hat einfach alles total super gepasst. Abgesehen von den unheimlich langen Kapiteln, ich bin da einfach kein Fan von, obwohl ich es in dem Buch sehr gut verstehen konnte. Trotzdem machen es mir lange Kapitel unheimlich schwer durch ein Buch zu kommen.
Ich mochte die Charaktere so wahnsinnig gerne.
Lexi unser Hauptcharakter. Sie ist eine absolute Katastrophe und zum Anfang des Buches ein total gemeines und sarkastisches Miststück. Doch ich hab sie gleich ins Herz geschlossen. Sie war vielschichtig und ihre ganze Entwicklung durch das Buch hindurch, war einfach schön anzusehen.
Ich mochte auch die anderen Charaktere, ganz besonders hab ich Kendall und Ruby ins Herz geschlossen. Und ich mochte die Freundschaft zwischen den Dreien richtig sehr. Im Allgemeinen mochte ich die ganze Dynamik in der Gruppe und dass die Freundschaften auch nach der Klinik weiter gingen.
Ich mochte total wie die Rückblicke eingebracht worden von Lexi bevor sie in die Klinik kam. Und ich bin froh, dass sie nach der Klinik (beim zweiten Anlauf) die richtigen Entscheidungen getroffen hat und einige Dinge in ihrem Leben geändert hat. Ich war am Ende des Buches einfach unheimlich stolz auf sie, wie weit sie gekommen ist.
Ich kann das Buch nur empfehlen!!!

Another book this month that has totally become one of my favorite books, for this month, for this year and probably for a long time. The characters really grew on me A LOT, the story was just powerful and moving. Everything about this book will stick with me for a long time.

Right from the beginning, I really loved the writing and especially the humor in this book. I just worked perfectly for the story and the characters. I just didn't like the very long chapters, I'm just no fan of them, and even though I totally understand why the chapters in the book were so long, I just have such trouble getting through books like this.
I loved the characters A LOT.
Lexi, our maincharacter in the story. She is an absolute mess and in the beginning of the book, she is kinda a mean and sarcastic jerk. But I loved her right away. She was multilayered and her whole growth throughout the book was just beautiful to see.
I also really loved the other characters, especially Kendall and Ruby, and I loved the friendship between these three. Overall, I really loved the dynamic the whole group had, and that they kept in touch after rehab.
Another thing I really liked was the way the flashbacks were placed in the story, the Lexi before she ended up in rehab. And I'm just so glad that after she got to go home (the second time around) she made some big changes and how her life changed and became better for her. I just was very proud of her, how far she came, at the end of the book.
I really recommend this book!!!
