German and english review

 

Gott sei Dank ist es nicht das letzte Buch in der Serie, denn ich brauch einfach mehr. Selbst wenn es nur bei einem Buch mehr bleiben sollte. Außerdem hoffe ich in dem letzten Buch auf einen richtigen Abschluss für die Charaktere.

 

Aber erstmal zu dem eigentlichen Buch. Ohne Spoiler über die eigentliche Geschichte, ich rede hauptsächlich über die Charaktere.

 

Inhalt: Der Schneeleopard beobachtet, er jagt – er tötet

Die Polizei von Boston ermittelt in einem bizarren Mordfall. Die Leiche eines Jägers und Tierpräparators wurde gefunden – ausgeweidet und aufgehängt wie eines seiner Beutetiere. In den Wäldern werden Knochenreste eines weiteren Opfers entdeckt. Doch Boston ist nicht das einzige Jagdrevier des Killers. Es scheint eine Verbindung zu einem fünf Jahre zurückliegenden Vorfall in Botswana zu geben, wo die Teilnehmer einer Safari auf ungeklärte Weise verschwanden. Jane Rizzoli reist nach Afrika, um dem heimtückischen Mörder auf die Spur zu kommen ..

 

Es war gleich von Anfang an super einfach, mich wieder in der Welt von Jane und Maura zurecht zufinden. Und ich fand das Buch auch wieder von der ersten Seite bis zur letzten total spannend gemacht. Ich liebe einfach Tess Gerritsen's Schreibstil, die Wendungen, die sie einbaut und die mich immer noch unerwartet treffen obwohl ich schon so viele Thriller gelesen habe und man denken könnte, ich würde langsam die Tricks verstehen.

 

Ich fand den Wechsel zwischen Boston und Botswana richtig interessant und auch abwechslungsreich.

Es war weniger von dem Privatleben der Charaktere zu sehen, worüber ich froh war, denn die Tatsache, dass Frank sich wieder zu Hause eingenistet hat, macht mich stinksauer und ich hoffe, dass Angela am Ende, doch auf ihr Herz hört anstatt zu tun, was sie denkt, was ihr Mann und ihre Söhne von ihr erwartet. Ugh.

Es war auch schön, dass Jane und Maura das ein oder andere Gespräch über ihre Freundschaft hatten und das sie sich da doch immer weiter annähern. Außerdem war Maura als Katzenmama, einfach zum Lachen komisch.

 

Und Millie. Millie, ja vielleicht hat sie sich versteckt und hat zurück gezogen gelebt aber verdammt, sie ist so ein starker Charakter. Ich habe so viel Respekt vor ihr.

Thank god, this isn't the last book in the series, cause I need more. Even if there is just only one more book. I just hope for more of a closure for the characters.

 

But lets talk about the actual book. Without spoilers about the actual story, I will mainly talk about the characters.

 

Summary: Boston Detective Jane Rizzoli is on the case of a big game hunter found dead in his apartment, alone with the body of a beautiful white snow leopard he had recently been commissioned to procure and stuff for a high-profile museum in the area.

Medical examiner Maura Isles connects the case to a number of seemingly unrelated deaths where the victims have all been found hanging upside down, the hallmark of a leopard's kill.

Rizzoli follows the puzzling trail of clues all the way to Botswana, where she uncovers the unsolved mystery of a deadly camping safari six years prior. When she realizes the two cases are connected, Rizzoli must track down the sole survivor of the tragic trip to discover who - or what - is behind these gruesome deaths.

 

Right from the beginning it was super easy getting back into the world of Jane and Maura. And from the first page to the last, the whole story was interesting and suspenseful. I just love Tess Gerritsen's writer style, the twists and turns she writes and that always catch me off guard, even though I read so many thrillers in my life and you would think I know all the tricks by now. I don't.

 

I loved the switch between Boston and Botswana, so interesting and it was a nice change of scenery.

There wasn't that much about the private life of the characters, which I was kinda glad about, cause the fact that Frank pretty much moved in with Angela again, makes me so freaking mad and I really hope that at the end of all this, Angela will follow her heart instead of doing what Frank and her sons tell her what she should do. Ugh.

I also liked the talks Jane and Maura had about their friendship and how they slowly start getting closer again. Maura as a cat lady was just hilarious.

 

And Millie. Millie, yes maybe she did hide herself and kinda vanished from the face of the earth, but damn, she's such a strong characters. I have so much respect for her.
