Bookish thoughts!!!

First things first: I received an ARC of this book through NetGalley.

I'm still pretty torn about this book to be honest.

In the beginning I wasn't even sure if I would finish it. The characters and the story didn't really appeal to me.

I had such a hard time with Isis and Jack in the beginning. Their personalities and the war they had going on between them. It just got on my nerves a lot. Jack grew throughout the story. I'm not so sure about Isis. At the end of the story I actually cared for them a lot more than in the beginning. So that's okay. Still, I have to say that I was more interested in the story of Isis's mother. And in Kayla and Wren, the friends that Isis made at school.

That brings me right to the relationships in this book. I loved loved LOVED Isis with her mother. How she took care of her and all that. She shouldn't have to but she did it. And I also really loved Isis friendship with Kayla and Wren. I have to say that I liked Isis way more when she had moments with these three people. She was just so different with them and much more likable than when she was around Jack. That brings me to their 'relationship', it wasn't really for me. I'm the first to admit that I love couples that first dislike each other and then when getting to know each other turn around and start liking each other (personal note: stop using the word each other). But in that case with these two, I just didn't feel it. Sorry. I like Kayla and Wren, though. I like them a lot.

Like I said towards the end the characters grew on me, they are still not my favorites and I'm not sure about a few of their choices but that's okay. The end got me though and I will pick up the next book for sure. I'm also really interested in Sophia and I hope we will see more of her coming up.

Overall the writing was really good and there was definitely a lot of lines from Isis that had me laughing out loud.
